Self-service intranet

Any team can spin up a microsite and publish, without going through a central publishing team.

The starting point

Publishing anything to the intranet meant filing a request with a central team, so content went stale and people stopped trusting it as a source. The teams that held the information were the least able to share it.

The work

We evolved the intranet so any team can spin up a microsite and publish content themselves, working from templates that keep the result consistent. Governance and search were built in so distributed authoring did not turn into sprawl.

The outcome

Content now comes from the people who own it, published in minutes rather than weeks, and the intranet is current enough that employees go there first. The central team no longer sits in the middle of every update, and spends its time on the platform instead of on requests.
